"ART WASHES AWAY FROM THE SOUL THE DUST OF EVERYDAY LIFE." - PABLO PICASSO
I have been an artist since childhood, first sketching comics from newspapers and then continuing art exploration throughout high school and into college. I studied fine art under Craig Marshall Smith, EC Cunningham, and Sandy Lane, graduating with a bachelor's degree in fine art from msu Denver.
my current body of work explores the nature of tension and release, chaos and control. The drawings and paintings are expressions of the subconscious through automatism and gestural drawing. Many drawings incorporate ink, paint, graphite, charcoal and watercolor which are applied in sweeping, gestural movements across the drawing surface. some works focus on heavy layering of pigments and mediums in very large and graphic formats, Still maintaining a sense automatism through layered brush strokes and added mark making.
