[ABOUT]

"ART WASHES AWAY FROM THE SOUL THE DUST OF EVERYDAY LIFE." - PABLO PICASSO

I have been an artist since childhood, first sketching comics from newspapers and then continuing art exploration throughout high school and into college. I studied fine art under Craig Marshall Smith, EC Cunningham, and Sandy Lane, graduating with a bachelor of fine arts from msu Denver.

My current work is a mingling of process and automatism. The process is in the preparation; building and stretching the canvas, prepping the paper, taping off areas of the surface that I want to preserve, etc. This is followed by a fast and automatic reaction to the surface. I want to be free of thought, this is when the best work comes through. I push the material and let the material push back. We have a conversation. If it doesn’t work out, I’ve learned something, I’ve discovered something, and I begin again. very much in alignment with the process of life and living.
